India’s cellular subscriber base reaches 233 million in 2007
As per the figures published by India’s telecom regulators (that include GSM, CDMA and Wireless Local Loop) India accommodated more than 233 million subscribers by the end of 2007. The market is expected to continue to grow at a 50% annual growth through 2008. The mobile operators in India have undertaken plans to invest around $20bn by 2009 in the industry. The investment is expected to bring more than 80% of the population under mobile coverage by 2009.
