Healthcare in China:
Healthcare spending in China is increasing in tandem with growing economy. Total Expenditure for Public Health increased from RMB458bn in 2000 to RMB865bn in 2005. Number of health institutions slightly decreased from 324,771 in 2000 to 308,969 in 2006. In 2007, the country’s pharmaceutical industry grew by 21.5% to register sales of CNY575bn.
